How can art be therapeutic ?

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

Art can be therapeutic whether it's writing, singing, or photography. Jesus and art have been so far my therapy. Photography helped me because it challenged me In a way where I had to be vulnerable with my friends and family who I asked to help me portray my emotions through a two-year healing process.

I had to not only explain how I felt but help them portray my emotions.

Thanks to them I was able to create therapeutic art. I would look at the photos and be like this is exactly how I felt because I had a hard time explaining how I felt so photography was my way of speaking out my pain. For someone else, it could be writing a letter or painting but everyone's therapy is different just like how they process.

They could process internally where they need alone time to think or they could be external where they have to talk to people or a therapist to be able to heal.

If you have a loved one who is dealing with trauma be patient with them, or if you need healing you need patience. Take it day by day. It's gonna be tough but it's gonna be worth it even if you cant see the light at the end of the tunnel. Talk to someone, get a trusted therapist and journal your progress. Then you can look back on how much you have overcome in the next years and keep going. According to this article ,trauma can vary from abuse, loss like a death of a friend or loved one, or divorce. Therapy is not always needed but is always ALWAYS helpful with the right one. If you read this whole article then thank you for taking your time and I appreciate your support! I hope this helps you or educated you.
